New to the hobby? We don’t require you to know all of the anime series we’ve watched or name ten animation studios and story illustrators. Hobbies are loved in varying degrees as I have said so several times in the past. But, here’s the deal: Always remember that you represent EVERYONE ELSE in the hobby when you make a fool of yourself in public or in photos. Or act rude when in fact you've just poked someone’s eyes out with your massive props. It’s like a uniform, when you wear your costume it’d be what people would label with whatever small knowledge they have of cosplay.
Am not saying I'm personally a liar, am not. I try to be as blunt as possible, but reality would tell us that a pretty face won't necessarily equate to a good heart/personality. It's the age old question of good looks and good personalities-- Just don't get fooled by the short skirt and long lashes, she might be the worse bitch or bastard to prowl upon your wallet since your favorite nendo came out or that new Assassin's Creed game.
Hatsune Miku, I think I've mentioned her more than 10 times on this blog of mine now. And I regret no bit of it. If there was one singular character that I cosplay almost monthly it's her. I love the concept art that go with the PV. I love how people who know how to compose and can create beautiful music but have no exact means to, can do it with her.
The possibilities she present, the hope, and all the words that she takes across continents is just magical! Another of many from the set of my Rei Ayanami cosplay. In all honesty I don't know what to do with the rest of the shots from all of the sets. They aren't exactly outstanding or anything so it's pretty hard to put them anywhere. The costumes I made are pretty decent I suppose, but shot wise... I'm none too sure. And so before I start getting myself depressed even further, Sentimental Rei Ayanami/KuriCurry out! <o
September 30 is the lead heroine's birthday in the series Sword Art Online.
As a very conceited tribute, I gathered some of my favorite photos from the costumes and my cosplays of her. The confusion, and the thousand of times she has probably been cloned - that is the tragedy that is "Rei Ayanami". I seriously love her character even though I first got to know her from a local tv show here in the Philippines. It was seriously not the kind of show you'd let children watch. But I guess, because of EVA we definitely became a generation of open minded youth.
Technical aspects of the photo: A Nikon D700 was used to shoot the actual image of my Rei Ayanami cosplay. And the cockpit was rendered and modelled FROM SCRATCH in Blender 3D. Then I composited the photo in Photoshop CS6 to finalize the entire image. I'll be going through my past month's cosplays and some of the photos that have not seen light of day throughout the upcoming days/weeks.I'll take a breather and Re-shoot my Rei Ayanami. Then start on my last plan of the year. For now, Have at ya! My Emi Yusa Cosplay Other KuriCurry Cosplay Projects:
My version of Kuroneko, admittedly I don't think I did her justice. She's just way too cute for me to do! Still did her though, I wanted to surprise someone. Besides that, I like her the best in the series other than Ayase. Story time:
This was shot in Tagaytay, a place that is around 2 hours by drive from home. I had a costume fitting during that day as well. And it rained a LOT. The whole plan was to have sunny shots on the outside of the house as well. But in the end we had to use the 2nd floor living room. And the glass walls of the house were dyed in black. (Due to how late we got and how long I took to change and whatnot) This Kuroneko outfit/ Ruri Gokou cosplay I made was supposedly for the last week of August. It was something to console myself with as I was tasked to help out friends for a video shoot. (In which case I ended up doing nothing instead) In the end, I guess I just had to be patient at times and things will come my way. I keep my life as simple as can be, more or less I dislike complexities and I always say what's on my mind without being rude. Although these are tips regarding hobbies, I think generally it's a good way to keep things as simple with most things in your life. I don't think it's impossible, we just have to get rid of the lies and negative feelings. (Easier said than done perhaps, but it's better to try than sulk about being miserable I say) We love things to different degrees, from our friends to types of food and to the things we spend time on. It kind of sucks that there aren't a lot of people who are open minded enough to STOP ARGUING about how to look at things. If someone doesn't agree with you, just RESPECT them and move along.
So honestly, I hope that in a hobby as creative as cosplay we have a lot of more people who are much more accepting. Having a debate on who's right ONLINE will not help you earn money or finish your homework. Technology has changed vastly, but you still have only 24 hours in a day. So SPEND IT WISELY. |
